11th Hyderabad Jewellery Pearl and Gem Fair Kicks Off. The11th Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair (HJF 2018), unfolded on 8th June, 2018 amidst a gathering of leading personalities from the jewellery industry. The exhibition will continue until 10th June at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel. The inauguration took place in the presence of Chief Guest Ms. Pinky Reddy, President- FICCI Ladies Association, key dignitaries Mr. Mahendra Tayal, President, Hitech City Jewellers Manufacturers Association;  Mr. Mukesh Agarwal, Convener, Hitech City Jewellers Manufacturers Association;  Mr.Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India and Mr. Abhijit  Mukherjee, Group Director, UBM India.

Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India spoke of the Hyderabad Gems and Jewellery show being one of UBM’s ‘notable fairs catering to the industry Pan India with a focus on South’. He further continued, “We are extremely delighted with the fair’s success year- on- year and we will continue to showcase new jewellery trends, an unmatched jewellery portfolio and conduct knowledge sharing seminars to draw wider trade audiences in the years to come.”

Speaking of the importance gold holds for Indians in every context, and India’s being a leading consumer and importer of this metal, he noted, South India is “the country’s major market. This region is known for its penchant for lustrous and statement jewellery pieces, including Kasulaperu, Temple Jewellery, Managa Malai, Vanki to name a few. UBM India understands this love for sparkle, and through the HJF aims to further boost the morale of this sector.”

The HJF is a significant B2B jewellery platform, bringing together a host of industry players from wholesale to retail, technology to machinery. This year the show has garnered a participation of 200 exhibitor across jewellery brands, wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, jewellery manufacturers, machinery manufacturers, diamond, gemstone, pearl suppliers and traders, precious metal and jewellery mounting traders and suppliers, and representatives from trade and governmental bodies. Exhibitors hail across various cities and Tier II towns such as Vijayawada, Guntur, Vizag, Nellore and Warangal.

The variety of jewellery on display includes jewellery set in Victorian, Nizam, Antique, Polki, and Kundan style, Gold Casting, Diamond Jewellery, Silver articles, Silver Jewellery, Pearls and Gems set Jewellery. There are 30 exhibitors at the machinery pavilion presenting the latest in technology, machinery in jewellery making and allied services.

The Artisans’ Zone, a key highlight at the event hosts unique distinctive jewellery creations including miniature products by artisans and designers; a Designer Lounge for a display of jewellery by leading designers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and designer polki and bridal jewellery from Tyaani Fine Jewellery in collaboration with Bollywood celebrity Karan Johar.  A Seminar discussion on topics like ‘Spotlight on Synthetics’, ‘History and value factors of pearls’ by GIA, ‘Vitamin Money for progressive retailers’ and ‘Best practices in inventory management’ by Mr. Shivaram, Director, Retail Gurukul. A Networking Evening and Fashion Show highlighting the jewellery trends of the season will be held on June 9th and an ‘All State meet’ of Telangana District Associations is on Day 3.

The fair is an opportunity for the Indian jewellery segment especially those from South India to exhibit their creations. It serves the need for buyers and suppliers to network and develop business connections, knowledge sharing, interaction with new trends. The event draws buyers from India and abroad including Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, underlining the expo’s significance as a resourceful platform.

Further, to strengthen the South Indian jewellery sector, UBM has launched an international B2B jewellery fair– the Chennai Jewellery & Gem Fair (CJGF). The show is slated between 19th – 21st October, 2018 at the Chennai Trade Centre.
